Corporate & Social Responsibility Policy

Uprise Up are a data driven digital media agency. Relentless in the pursuit of ‘exceptional’ for socially positive organisations. Enabling laser focused strategies at a time when digital can save the world.

Corporate and social responsibility is at the very heart of our purpose. All our clients are socially positive, the majority being charities and non-profit organisations. We have a core value to ‘make the world better’ and are proud that all our staff are fully aligned. And as an organisation we are continuously seeking ways in which we can further improve.

We are proudly B Corp certified which requires us to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. It legally embeds our commitment to making a material positive impact on society and the environment not just promoting the success of the business for the benefit of our shareholders.

People

Our people are our most precious resource; everyone is nurtured throughout their journey with Uprise Up.

Our success is testament to the skills and knowledge of everyone that works at Uprise Up. We place the highest value on training and development and have a generous per person training budget. Everyone has at least one day per month for professional training including external courses and conferences. Many of us join as paid interns and enjoy a particularly comprehensive training programme.

We hold appraisals twice a year to ensure personal development is supported, we have separate happiness chats to ensure we understand what is important to everyone and how we can make improvements, as well as holding regular engagement surveys and having a mechanism for anonymous feedback.

We go beyond the workplace too. All our staff have access to private healthcare (BUPA) and mental health apps (Headspace). We want to create a healthy work life balance and offer both flexibility with core hours each day as well as the option to work remotely two days a week. We offer generous holiday, paid sabbaticals, and we have enhanced Maternity and Paternity policies.

Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity and inclusion is vital and we ensure all our staff are treated fairly.

When they join us, all our staff undertake external Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training, and this training is then repeated at least every year.

When it comes to recruitment, we ensure at least one third of prospective candidates at interview stage are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME).

We continually track our diversity as an organisation to ensure there is no disparity with progression or renumeration.

Environment

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact.

We have a Green Policy which details how we can improve our environmental impact in the office and at home including composting our food waste (we run a successful scheme where we compost our office food waste to supply to our local council for their Chesham in Bloom campaign) and recycling other materials where possible, as well as working hard to reduce our energy consumption.

We offset our carbon emissions annually, our staff have access to a cycle to work scheme, and we are committed to working with responsible suppliers and have a database of preferred sustainable suppliers of goods and services, local where possible.

Community

We care for our local community and share our support and expertise, often free of charge, to local businesses including local charities. This has included hosting several informative events on how to harness the power of digital marketing, offering reciprocal services (for example our Paid Search and SEO services in exchange for local fitness classes for our staff), and making our meeting spaces available to organisations.

Our staff are predominantly recruited locally, and we aim to give everyone one paid day a year to use to volunteer for a charity that is special to them, or for a local initiative.

We’ve provided services free of charge to Humanity & Inclusion for our work on their Ukraine appeal, and during the Covid crisis we were able to offer our services at no charge to Covid Aid so that we could give something back to help others. We’ve also undertaken voluntary work for Community Impact Bucks who support charities in Buckinghamshire, and Charity Comms who help charities with their communications on a national basis.

Procurement

We undertake steps to ensure our strong principals are reflected in the suppliers that the company uses. Where practical we use small local companies, and we routinely perform audits to make sure all suppliers meet with our code of conduct and that we are ethically sourcing.
